In 2017, as the Aurora State Airport runway expansion was being discussed within the community, it became apparent that there was a significant misperception of the airport's value and impact on the surrounding area. Recognizing the need for a cohesive message that would showcase the airport's positive contributions, a group of airport-affiliated businesses sought assistance in developing a narrative and PR campaign. The goal was to highlight the benefits of the airport, its various offerings, and ultimately provide a clear and accurate picture of the airport's impact on the local community.
Rushlight was hired to create a brand identity for the coalition, which became "Friends of Aurora Airport". In order to spread awareness and promote the airport's contributions, Rushlight developed various owned media channels and crafted engaging social media content. We reached out to local media outlets to generate regular press coverage that showcased the individuals behind the scenes at the airport. Additionally, we highlighted the important work that airport businesses do to maintain the safety of the surrounding communities. Overall, the goal was to create a positive image of the airport and its various businesses and community engagement.
