For the past 30 years, the Oregon PERS Retirees, Inc. (OPRI) has worked tirelessly to safeguard the retirement benefits of Oregon's public employees. However, their main communication method, a quarterly printed newsletter, proved inadequate for providing up-to-date information to members, especially during crucial legislative sessions. OPRI sought to engage with members more frequently, and increase membership among newer retirees. Rushlight was hired to develop a modern, owned media channel to facilitate more efficient and frequent communication with members. Through this project, Rushlight helped OPRI achieve their goals and better serve their members.
Rushlight created and grew a Facebook page for Oregon PERS Retirees, using targeted Facebook ads to attract PERS members, and be able to share regular updates and content. Within a few months, the page gained thousands of new followers and continues to attract new ones.
